Debit Card Scam

Baylake Bank in Sturgeon Bay says a mobile phone scam is being used to obtain Visa check card account information. The voice recording informs customers that their Visa check card may be compromised due to suspicious activity. It then takes the caller through an automated process & asks for his or her debit card number. The bank says the call is an attempt to obtain check card account information & noted that Baylake would never ask for password or personal identification numbers. However, bank employees may confirm personal account information or your card number if you initiate the call to help verify your identity. If you believe you have released information in response to a scam, or feel you have compromised your account information, immediately proceed with the following:

Contact your bank to close the card immediately. After business hours, contact the 1-800 number on the back of your card. Then, contact local law enforcement & report that you have been scammed & are the victim of fraud.

For more information, contact a Baylake Bank financial center or call 1-800-267-3610.
