An investigation into the report of a car theft resulted in the arrest of a Brown County man early Wednesday morning. Sturgeon Bay police officers were dispatched to the Corner Cafe shortly after 1AM & were given a statement by a man who said someone had stolen his vehicle. He said he parked the vehicle & left it unlocked with the keys in the ignition. An hour later he returned to find the vehicle missing. In about an hour, the vehicle was located by Door County deputies in a ditch north of Sturgeon Bay. Investigative work by the two law enforcement agencies led to the arrest of a 24 year old Green Bay man who was booked & jailed at the Door County jail for operating a motor vehicle without the owners consent & drunken driving. Officers are reminding citizens to never leave vehicles unlocked & always remove keys & other valuables when it is unattended for any period of time.
