The Door County Maritime Museum, working with the Door County Parks Department is nearing the goal of raising $2,600,000 for the improvements and restoration work to be done at the historic Cana Island Light Station. The 3 year campaign has secured gifts and pledges totalling more than $2,400,000, or 93% of the original goal. The money raised to date has enabled the County Parks Department to install new toilet facilities on the island and construct a visitor parking area adjacent to the natural stone causeway that connects Cana Island to the main land. Anyone who would like to make a donation toward the project is invited to contact the Maritime Museum in Sturgeon Bay, 743-5958, or visit http://www.dcmm.org and click on the donations & membership page.
