Cana Island Rehab Project Moving Forward

With the blessing of the Door County Board, & based on funding available, a rehabilitation project for the Cana Island Lighthouse & property near Baileys Harbor is moving forward. Howard Immel, Incorporated of Green Bay has been tabbed to do the work estimated at just under $875,000. The project, part of a long range plan that could cost in the neighborhood of $2.6 million, will focus on the exterior of the lighthouse & the keeper’s cottage. The idea is to create a site that will look very much the way it did in the early days of its existence. The Cana Island complex is administered for the county by the Door County Maritime Museum.
