A 74-year old bicyclist died as a result of injuries sustained in a collision with a van on County A, near Juddville Road, in the Town of Gibraltar, at about 4:30PM Saturday. Luella Branham of New Brighton, Minnesota was airlifted to Door County Medical Center by the Eagle III helicopter. She was pronounced dead at 6:13PM. According to the accident report, Branham was eastbound on Juddville Road when she failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection. Her pedalcycle pulled into the path of a van driven by 37-year old Jeffrey Lautenbach of Sturgeon Bay, who braked, but was unable to avoid the collision. It was Door County’s first traffic fatality in 2017.
