The arrival of the month of June signals the beginning of the end for the Bayview Bridge renovation project in Sturgeon Bay. The contractor has indicated that he’s hoping to wrap up the project which began in March before the 4th of July. The Memorial Day holiday cut the number of days crews were able to work on the more than 30 year old structure. The department of transportation says workers continued painting the south counterweight & removing scaffolding from the south bascule leaf. Electricians were busy installing motors & machinery in the north machinery room. This week, painters are expected to finish the south counterweight & move to the north bascule for painting. Electricians will continue with the installation of motors, &, the contractor will begin applying the epoxy overlay to the bridge deck. The DOT has budgeted $4.8 million for the Bayview Bridge project.
