Baylake Bank in Sturgeon Bay is warning customers and non-customers about a scam that has surfaced recently. Individuals have been receiving text messages and phone calls indicating that their bank debit cards have been compromised and they need to provide account and pin numbers to make things right again. The bank’s head of security says…”do not respond.” No legitimate public or private firm will ever ask for information that is already available. Once again, if you receive a call or text message asking for details about your personal account, such as pin numbers or account information…do not respond. The contacts have apparently been happening in the region, including Door and Kewaunee County.
