Barn Fire Monday Evening

A small barn was destroyed & several animals killed in a fire Monday evening at the Chanticleer Guest House property at 4072 Cherry Road in the Town of Sevastopol. Sturgeon Bay fire chief Tim Herlache says 8 units & 25 firefighters were paged out at 8:46PM. The first units on the scene found the barn fully engulfed in flames. The owners had been able to remove a tractor & a lawnmower, but other equipment, lumber & livestock were destroyed in the blaze. Fire crews used 26,700 gallons of water & 16 gallons of foam to put out the fire in the structure to the north of other buildings on the Chanticleer property. The Door County sheriff’s department provided traffic control & an ambulance crew stood by during the firefighting operation. Fire crews checked back into the station at 11:52PM. Chief Herlache says the burned out barn will be investigated to try to determine what caused the fire. No dollar estimate for the loss is available.
