Bail of $5,000 cash was set in Door County Circuit Court Thursday morning for a 35-year old Brown County man, accused a burglary spree in four counties, including Door County. Dakota Lone Eagle King of Oneida was also ordered to avoid contact with the victims & may not possess firearms or weapons of any kind. His next court date is March 3rd at 10AM. King was arrested after he picked the wrong place to park his vehicle while attempting to burglarize garages in Waupaca County. According to a news release from the state patrol, off-duty trooper Jim Binder awoke at 2:20 Monday morning to let his dog out. Binder noticed a strange car parked in his driveway about 100 yards away, so he got dressed, took his firearm & went outside to investigate. Near the unoccupied vehicle, trooper Binder encountered King whose legs were covered with snow. The Brown County man claimed that his vehicle had run out of gas, but later admitted to entering a shed. The suspect was handcuffed & turned over to the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Department. In the meantime, Trooper Binder & deputies searched the area & found power tools, a shotgun & other items that had been removed from the shed. Other stolen items were recovered from King’s vehicle. He remains in the Door County jail.
