Arnie Johnsrud to Seek 1st District Assembly Seat

Arnie Johnsrud, a farmer & former school teacher, has announced that he will seek the 1st District Assembly seat in the State Legislature currently held by Garey Bies. His candidacy will mark the second time Johnsrud has run for the position as a democrat. He lost in the primary to Patrick Veeser during the last election. Born & raised in Door County, Johnsrud is a graduate of Southern Door high school & an army veteran of the Vietnam war. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin River Falls & recently retired as the agriculture instructor at Kewaunee high school. Johnsrud also worked at Bay Shipbuilding in Sturgeon Bay for 14 years & still operates a farm in the Kewaunee County Town of Ahnapee. Johnsrud says he also believes that public education in Wisconsin is being hurt by decisions made in Madison. Johnsrud & his wife, Jeanne, have raised three children in northern Kewaunee County. He is a member of the American Legion, the VFW, & a past president of his church council.
