The American Folklore Theatre can add another first to its long list of accolades. The theatrical group, based at Peninsula State Park near Fish Creek, was awarded the first ever tourism award for arts, culture & heritage last week at the Governor’s Conference on Tourism in Green Bay. The award is presented to a business or destination that showcases the arts, culture or heritage for the enhancement & economic well being of a community. About 1,000 tourism professionals & Wisconsin business leaders were on hand when the award was presented at the Governor’s dinner. Managing director Dave Maier said the award is being shared with AFT’s entire company of writers, performers, volunteers, the board of directors & the patrons who keep coming out to support the theatrical group year after year.
