Door County Corporation Counsel Grant Thomas was named the acting or interim County Administrator by County Board Supervisors Tuesday. Thomas was asked to administer the position for a month, or perhaps longer, while the issues related to a probe into the conduct of County Administrator Michael Serpe are sorted out. The action was proposed in light of the fact that Serpe is currently on paid administrative leave. He was put in that status in late February after a closed door meeting of the County Administrative Services Committee. That committee has since met with a representative of the legal firm of Godfrey & Kahn to consider the results of an investigation into Serpe’s conduct as County Administrator. In the meantime, a special meeting of the full County Board has been set for Friday morning at 9AM. The session could provide the possibility of a hearing on the status of the County Administrator & feature information on the investigation conducted by Godfrey & Kahn.
