Five people were transported to Door County Medical Center Monday morning after a two-vehicle collision on the Bayview Bridge in Sturgeon Bay. Emergency units were sent to the bridge shortly after 7:30AM. Two units and four firefighters from the Sturgeon Bay Fire Department responded to the page, along with emergency service personnel and Sturgeon Bay Police. Officers closed off one lane of traffic while the accident was being cleaned up. Four of the injured parties were in one vehicle and were said to have minor injuries. The accident report indicates that a car driven by a 51-year old Sturgeon Bay woman, was heading north on the bridge when she lost control and the vehicle skidded across the centerline, striking a car driven by a 40-year old Sturgeon Bay man with three passengers. The investigating officer list speed (driving too fast for conditions) as a factor in the crash.
