4 Injured in Accident Between Maplewood & Forestville

There was a head-on collision of 2 vehicles between Maplewood and Forestville Wednesday afternoon. Just after 3:15PM, a 17 year-old Sturgeon Bay man was northbound on Highway 42 in his Honda Pilot, attempting to turn into a driveway just south of Center Road. As he crossed the oncoming traffic lane his vehicle collided head-on with a Mazda 4-door driven by a 29 year-old Sturgeon Bay woman. The 17 year-old was the lone driver in the Honda Pilot while the Mazda 4-door had 4 occupants.
One backseat passenger in the Mazda sustained serious injuries. Emergency responders immediately began life-saving measures before the passenger was transported to the Door County Medical Center. She was later transferred to a hospital in Green Bay. The Sturgeon Bay woman driving the Mazda and the other 2 passengers were also transported to the Door County Medical Center with less serious injuries, or as a precautionary measure.
That stretch of Highway 42 was blocked off for over 4 hours while a detour was set up and responders tended to the scene. A traffic reconstructionist from the Wisconsin State Patrol arrived to assist with the crash scene investigation, and that investigation continues. We will share more information on this incident as it becomes available.
