The Rotary Club of Sturgeon Bay will be putting on the 22nd annual Shipyard Tour in the city Saturday from 9AM to 2PM. For over a century, this vital industry has been critical to Door County’s history and maritime economy. Three facilities, all located on 1st Avenue in Sturgeon Bay, will be participating Saturday. Palmer Johnson Yachts, Bay Shipbuilding & Center Pointe Yacht Services, LLC will open their doors to the public for this annual event. Guided walking tours are offered at Bay Ship & Center Pointe, while self-guided walking tours will be available at Palmer Johnson. Tickets may be purchased at all three shipyard entry gates Saturday at $12 for adults & $6 for students 11 to 17 years of age. Back by popular demand, the US Coast Guard will open up the 140-foot cutter, Mobile Bay for free guided tours at a mooring area near Martin Park. Also available this year, by purchasing a shipyard tour ticket, participants can receive 50% off on the cost of a ticket to the Door County Maritime Museum. The ticket also includes access to the restored tug John Purves.
