The results from yesterday’s 2022 Spring Election are in. Within Door County there were 5, 812 ballots cast overall. There were 7 county supervisor districts with contested races. In District 2, incumbant Todd Thayse won with 175 votes while Lora Jorgensen had 98 votes. In District 4, Kara Counard’s 121 votes weren’t enough to beat Nancy Robillard’s 229. In District 5, Jeff Miller won with 164 votes versus Tim Smith’s 54 votes. In District 9, Daniel Austad won with 197 votes versus Jon Kruse’s 76. In District 11, Morgan Rusnak won with 137 votes while Helen Bacon received 61. In District 14, Hugh Zettel won with 243 votes versus Darrick DeMeuse’s 83. And District 20 had a close race, but when all ballots were tallied “Bud” Kalms won with 290 votes with Abby Duebler receiving 255. Two Sevastopol town supervisor seats were won by Jeanne Vogel and Derek Wayne Denil. Two Gibraltar School Board seats were won by Don Helm and Jessica Sauter. Two Sevastopol School Board seats were won by David Kacmarynski and Jeff Isaksen. And three seats on the Sturgeon Bay School Board were won by Beth Chisholm, Michael Stephani, and Jacob Schulz. Also, the Sturgeon Bay School Referendum was voted in favor of exceeding the revenue limit in funding education for the next 5 school years, as there were 842 “yes” votes and 595 “no” votes.
