2 Separate Vehicle Fires in Northern Door Wednesday

There were 2 separate vehicle fires in northern Door County Wednesday evening. First, at just about 6:00 pm, a fire call was made for a Dodge minivan on fire in downtown Ephraim. Fire Chief Justin Macdonald tells us what his department found when they arrived…..

Fire Chief Macdonald reports that his department responded with 4 trucks and 14 firefighters to extinguish the fire with 750 gallons of water and 1 gallon of foam. Luckily, one of the village’s firefighters happened to be at the nearby Hillside Hotel and called it in. The entire response took just under an hour and a half, and there were no injuries. Then, just a few hours later, a different vehicle fire was called in from the Town of Liberty Grove. Just before 9:30 pm, a Ford F-150 pickup with Michigan plates had caught fire on North Bay Road, just south of County Road “ZZ”. Sister Bay Liberty Grove Fire Chief Chris Hecht tells us more of what happened…..

Fire Chief Hecht reports that his department responded with 2 trucks and 8 firefighters to extinguish the truck with roughly 150 gallons of water. The response took about 20 minutes, and again, the cause of this fire has not been determined. It was mentioned the driver was from out of the area.
