Elections officials are encouraging voters to act now to vote absentee for the Spring Election & Presidential Preference Primary on April 7th. Polls will be open for those who need them on election day, but with the current health concerns it would be best if most voters vote absentee, and those ballots should be requested as soon as possible. Business & Organization Changes
Effective 5PM Tuesday, March 17 Governor Tony Evers has declared a ban on gatherings of 10 or more people. The Governor has also declared an immediate closing of dining rooms in restaurants and bars. Foodservice establishments (restaurants and bars) are still allowed to do curbside, takeout, and delivery.

The following businesses & organizations have changed their services in response to COVID-19:

Restaurants

Husby’s Food & Spirits of Sister Bay will be closing their doors for DINE IN food and drink service. They will have curb side food service available until 9pm Tuesday and going forward.

Al Johnson’s Swedish Restaurant & Butik in Sister Bay is taking curbside orders daily from 8am until 2pm. Call 1(920) 854-2626 ext 3.

Kitty O’Reilly’s Irish Pub in Sturgeon Bay will do curbside delivery. Please call 920.743.7441. Delivery service is offered for all in the City of Sturgeon Bay. This we will be credit only and minimum of $25 for delivery.

Wave Pointe Resort & Marina has temporarily closed the resort, bar and restaurant to minimize the threat & spread of COVID-19

Stage Road Inn will be serving carryouts of pizza and buckets of chicken from 4:30 until 7:30 p.m. starting Thursday, March 19. Call (920) 743-4807 to place orders. Menu is posted on their Facebook page

Wanda Jean’s Family Restaurant in Sturgeon Bay is offering curbside service from 9am until 2pm. Please call ahead 1(920) 743-0105.

Sonny’s Italian Kitchen & Pizzeria in Sturgeon Bay has delivery and pickup from 11am until 9pm. Call 1(920)-743-2300 to order.

Bricklot Pub & Grill is offering curbside pickup and delivery service daily between 11:30am and 1:30pm for lunch and 5pm until 8pm for dinner. Call 1(920) 743-9339 to place your order and when you arrive for pickup. For delivery please pay with a credit card.

Scaturo’s in Sturgeon Bay will be open regular hours for takeout breakfast, lunch and casseroles and Wednesday pizza. Their 2-for-1 bread special is now offered everyday and they will feature a meal for a family of four for $15.99 on a daily basis. Landmark Resort and Carrington Pub & Grill is offering takeout orders for food and beverage.

Hotel Stebbins in Algoma is offering delivery or take out from 5-8:30PM Thursday through Saturday. Call 1(920)-487-5521. The full menu & specials will be available on their facebook page.

North Water Bakery & Deli in Algoma is providing free bag lunches for children that will be home over the next few weeks, Ebert Enterprises is providing milk. Call the bakery for more information at 1(920)-487-5306.

A&W of Algoma has moved to drive-thru service only. Inside dining will be closed until further notice.

Denny’s SuperValu of Algoma has changed some of their deli services.The full service cold case is shut down, the hot deli case is limited. Please call ahead with orders.

Rose’s in Luxemburg is offering take-out food and drink, now offering pizzas.

The Cedar Creek Carpet showroom is open by appointment only. Call 743-2700 or 920-493-2168. Installations are now continuing on schedule.

The Main Street Market in Egg Harbor is offering email &call in & order service. Send your order in & staff will gather your order for you. Service is limited to pick-up orders only. Call 1(920)-868-2120 for more information. Orders can be emailed to “pickup@doorcountygrocery.com”.

Bley’s Grocery in Jacksonport is offering curbside service. Call 1(920) 823-8188 to place an order. No in-store shopping at this time.

Apple Valley Lanes in Sturgeon Bay will be in contact with their league secretaries and re-evaluate the situation on March 31st. They will be open Tuesdays and Fridays for pickup and delivery of food. 10$ Tuesday and fish fry and full menu on Friday. They will be open both days from 4pm until 8pm. Bargains Unlimited in Sister Bay is closed.

Bay Vinyl Records in Sturgeon Bay is closed until further notice.

Wilkins & Olander in Sturgeon Bay is closed until further notice. You can shop at their website with free shipping.

Bay Shore Outfitters have closed their stores in Sister Bay and Sturgeon Bay. You can still shop their website.

OtherWorlds Books and More of Sturgeon Bay is canceling their game nights on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday until April 6th. They will offer delivery, mail orders, and curb side drop off service for special orders and requests. For orders, message them on Facebook or call the store at 1(920)-600-1692.

Door County Brewing Co. Taproom and Music Hall will be closed until further notice. The taproom in Baileys Harbor will be open 1pm-5pm on Friday and Saturday for TO-GO beer and GROWLERS only. All growlers must be purchased in house, they will not be filling outside containers. All transactions must be cards only, no cash.

Uncle Tom’s Candy Store– Online and Pick-Up only. They also are donating food care packages for families that are struggling to feed their children because of layoffs and school closures and will have these available as long as supplies last. More info about these care packages on our website.

All locations of Door County Confectionary are closed until further notice.

Dentistry by Design of Sister Bay will be closed through April 1st. They have temporarily postponed all elective dental procedures. Patients with dental emergencies will be treated on a case by case basis.

La Cocina Catering is opening it’s delivery service Wednesday March 18 from 5 pm – 9 pm business hours will be Wednesday— Sunday 5pm – 9 pm. Order is available through Grubhub or call directly 920-634-9396. If you are worried about isolation there are options ie- leaving order on doorstep, paying over phone etc.

Ecology Sports store in Sister Bay is closing until further notice. In the meantime, they are adding items to their online offerings.

Organizations
Sunshine House Client Services are suspended until further notice.

The Door County YMCA has announced that their program centers in Northern Door and Sturgeon Bay are closed until further notice. The plan is to restore full operations with the re-opening of the area school districts.

The Door County Habitat For Humanity office and ReStore is closed until further notice. They are not accepting donations at the ReStore and are asking the public not to leave items outside the store.

Door 2 Door Rides and the County’s transportation service provided by the bus and van marked ADRC, shared rides will be suspended immediately. Any unrelated persons will be transported separately. If there is a family, riders who are related and picked up and dropped off at the same locations, a 50% vehicle capacity limit will be followed. This change in service may lead to longer wait times for riders. Riders should plan in advance and work with dispatch on drop off times that will meet their needs. The United Way of Door County has postponed their annual meeting scheduled for April 20th. The United Way has also postponed the “No Small Matters” screenings scheduled for March 31st, April 6th, April 13th, & May 19th.

The Door County Maritime Museum has cancelled the April 2nd presentation of the Maritime Speaker Series. The Museum will remain open for guests who are not ill, but this will require an appointment. They have 2-hour blocks of time for visiting. Please call the museum or check their Facebook page for the latest available openings for visiting.

Crossroads at Big Creek has announced that the Collins Learning Center and Stonecipher Astronomy Center are closed to the public until the Sturgeon Bay Schools re-open. The three preserves remain open to the public but visitors are asked to practice social distancing.

All Door County Learning in Retirement classes are cancelled until the Sturgeon Bay Schools reopen. Please continue to monitor your e-mail, DCLIR Facebook and webpages, and local news outlets for further updates. The DCLIR Offices are closed until further notice.

The Door County Veterans Service Office has announced that all upcoming Delta Company listening sessions have been cancelled.

Sturgeon Bay Utilities has closed it’s lobby until further notice. Those wishing to pay their bills are asked to use the drop box at the SBU office or city hall, mail, local banks, or automated bill pay.

The Boys & Girls Club of Door County is closed. The current planned re-opening date is April 6th.

The Algoma Youth Club has announced that all activities, programs, meetings and events will be cancelled at the Community Building/Youth Club. After April 6th, we will determine when we will open the building for community usage.

The Algoma Visitor Center is closed until Monday, March 30th. This includes the public restrooms in the entryway.

The Algoma Community Wellness Center is closed through April 6th. Accounts will be frozen so members will not lose time previously paid for.

All branches of the Door County Library are closed as of March 25. Free WiFi is available outside of library buildings. Digital Services are open. Virtual book clubs and story times are available on their Facebook page. The Algoma Public Library is closed until April 6th. All library programs are cancelled. Staff is available this week(3/16-3/20) via phone at 1(920)-487-2295 from 9AM to 4PM. Any overdue fines incurred during this time will be waived when materials are returned.

The Kewaunee Public Library is closed until further notice. All library programs are cancelled. Any overdue fines incurred during this time will be waived when materials are returned.

The Neighbor to Neighbor office in Sturgeon Bay will be closed until further notice. The equipment facilities are also closed EXCEPT for EMERGENCY NEEDS. For assistance in an emergency situation please call their cell phone at 920-495-1230.

We Are Hope, Inc. / Door County Job Center is closed to the public during the governor’s order. For info on applying for unemployment or for job search assistance, please go to www.wearehopeinc.org , or you can calltoll free 844-910-3661 if you don’t have internet access.

Sturgeon Bay’s Lakeshore CAP offices are closed to the public. The Lakeshore Cap food Pantry is open regular hours from 11AM-4PM every Tuesday & Thursday. If you are homeless or need housing assistance, please call 920-682-3737 and press “0” for the front desk and leave a message. Messages will be checked regularly Monday – Friday between 8:30 & 4:30. If you are calling for a housing assistance application please leave your name, address, and phone number in the message. You an also email to info@lakeshorecap.org. If you are homeless and do not have access to a phone you can go to the office at 131 S. 3rd Ave to get an application which you can turn in on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 11:00 and 4:00.

Churches

Bishop David L. Ricken of the Diocese of Green Bay announced that effective Friday, March 20, ALL PUBLIC ATTENDANCE AT ALL MASSES (this includes daily and weekend Masses) in the Diocese of Green Bay is suspended indefinitely to be reviewed in mid-April.

Saint Peter’s Lutheran Church of Sturgeon Bay is encouraging the congregation & community to use electronic media for church services. They will live-stream on St. Peter’s Facebook site as well as provide their service live on WDOR Sunday mornings at 10AM.

St. Peter’s Lutheran Church of Forestville and St. John’s Lutheran Church of Algoma have both cancelled all in-person activities until March 31st.

Bayview Lutheran Church of Sturgeon Bay is cancelling all services and activities.

Wednesday & Sunday services at Trinity Lutheran Church on Washington Island are cancelled.

Sturgeon Bay Moravian Church has cancelled all activities and services. Beginning this weekend services will be available online at www.sbmoravian.org

The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Door County has cancelled their Sunday services through the end of March. The art gallery and other events have also been cancelled.

First Baptist Church of Sister Bay will not be holding public worship services. Services will be broadcast on WDOR at 11:05 Sunday mornings, and the pastor’s message will be available on the church website. In addition, they hope to have a video recording of the message available on Facebook and on the church website.

Salem Lutheran Church in Nasewaupee has canceled all services until further notice.

Immanuel Lutheran Church in Kolberg has canceled all services until further notice.

Tanum Forest Church, located in Vignes on County Highway “OO”, is closing until May 10th, per recommendation from the E.L.C.A. Bishop Gerald Mansholt. All church functions are being suspended for this 8 week time frame.

The Episcopal Church of Christ the King and Holy Nativity will be suspending all regular services and church meetings. Father Olin Sletto, Vicar of the two churches in Sturgeon Bay and Jacksonport, has made his weekly homilies available on the church’s website, www.cckhn.org where they may be streamed.

Events

The open house meeting regarding the draft Door County Parks and Open Space Plan 2020-2025 which was to be held on Tuesday, March 31st is being cancelled. The county is still interested in input regarding the plan. Please take the time to review the plan at http://map.co.door.wi.us/planning/

The Algoma Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Beacon Awards Celebration scheduled for Monday, April 20th has been postponed. Nominations for the awards are still being sought. For more information about the Beacon Awards go to https://visitalgomawi.com/beacon

Peninsula Players Theatre has cancelled the final presentation in it’s play reading series, The Play’s the Thing, which was scheduled for April 6th at Bjorklunden.

Sturgeon Bay Breakfast Rotary Trivia Night has been postponed. New date has not been set yet.

Loaves and Fishes of Door County has cancelled the Community Meals scheduled for 5:30 P.M, on Friday, March 27th at the NWTC campus.

The Door County Historical Society has cancelled programs scheduled for March 28th at the Sturgeon Bay Yacht Club, and, April 27th at Al Johnson’s. If you have registered & paid for the programs you will be receiving a phone call to discuss options. The Heritage Village Rummage Sale and the Belgian Shrine Bus Tour have been postponed.

The Kewaunee County Public Health Department has postponed the free skin cancer screenings scheduled for April 4th at Prevea Luxemburg Health Center.

The ADRC of the Lakeshore is suspending all community events through April 30th, and managing in home visits over the phone when possible. The ADRC of the Lakeshore is also closing the congregate senior dining sites throughout Kewaunee & Manitowoc Counties. Home delivered meals are moving forward with extra precautions.

Write On Door, Door County has canceled all their in-person programming through May 7th. If you have already registered for a class you may be refunded, keep your credit for a future class, or donate your tuition to Write On. Please watch their social media for info of online events.

The Sevastopol School District’s “4K Development Screening and Child Find” event planned for April 2nd has been canceled. A new date has not been determined.

The Door County Master Gardeners Association is canceling its public events through mid-April, as well as the spring plant sale in May. Further information will be made available at www.dcmga.org.

Jacksonport’s Maifest weekend celebration for 2020 has been canceled. All Maifest activities involved are called off due to the public health crisis.

The Climate Change Coalition of Door County has canceled its Climate Change Forum scheduled for May 9th at Stone Harbor Resort due to the current pandemic. So far, there are no plans to reschedule this event.

Door County Youth Trap season which was supposed to start this Saturday Mar. 28th at the Gardner Rifle Club, is as of now, postponed. Please listen to WDOR or visit the D.C.Y.T. Facebook page for updates.
