There was an emergency rescue call from a tall bluff in Peninsula State Park Monday afternoon. At 1PM, the call came from a woman who was hiking the Eagle Trail near the top of a tall bluff with her two dogs. Gibraltar Fire Chief Andy Bertges explains what happened…
There were five responders from Gibraltar Fire & Rescue, two from Door County EMS, and one park warden. First, they made sure the woman was safe and secure on the bluff. Using a low-angle rope rescue, they were able to individually pull the woman and each dog to safety. Fire chief Bertges says he’s glad she did call for assistance and the rescue went smoothly…
The rope rescue procedure took approximately 20 minutes, and the entire response was completed in under 50 minutes. There were no injuries reported.
