The Sturgeon Bay Historical Society Foundation has announced that Phase II of the restoration of the granary on Sturgeon Bay’s west side waterfront will begin on February 5th. The focus of that work includes the restoration of the interior of the structure, the completion of the exterior, the addition of a catering kitchen & public restrooms, as well as landscaping & signage.
Much of the work done during Phase I were things the public may not have noticed. Projects like drilling new pilings, foundation work, and the restoration of internal columns. The projects to be completed in Phase II will be much more visible. The completion of this phase of work is expected to be some time in early August.
The intention is for the granary to operate as a free, three season interpreted museum, as well as a community gathering space.
