Packers Look To Rebound In Week Two

The NFL‘s oldest rivalry continues tonight at Lambeau Field, as the Green Bay Packers (0-1) will play host to the Chicago Bears (1-0).  This is the 185th meeting between the two teams, dating back to 1920 when the Bears were known as the Decatur Staleys.  Chicago leads the all-time series 92-86-6, but Green Bay has won four straight and six of the last seven meetings.  Its a rivalry that has grown on Packers linebacker Clay Matthews, who has 2.5 sacks in seven meetings with the Bears…

This will be the Packers only meeting with an NFC North team until week eleven.  Considering that stretch, Matthews was asked if tonight’s contest is even more important…

The Bears offense had a league-high nine plays of 20-plus yards in their week one win over the Indianapolis Colts.  Seven of those plays came in the passing game, which Chicago upgraded during the off-season by trading for receiver Brandon Marshall and selecting Alshon Jeffrey in the second round in April’s draft.  Packers corner Tramon Williams thinks that Bears quarterback Jay Cutler has more weapons to work with…

In their season-opening loss to the 49ers, the Packers had just four offensive possessions over the first two quarters and seven points at halftime.  Quarterback Aaron Rodgers is hoping for a better start tonight…

Kickoff of tonight’s Packers – Bears game is at 7:20.

Notes:
The Packers have won 17 of their last 19 games and 19 of 21 at Lambeau Field.

Six of the last seven games between the Packers and Bears have been decided by seven points or less.  However, the Packers won the last meeting, 35-21.

This is the 17th time that the two teams have met in a prime-time contest.  The Packers own 9-7 edge against the Bears in prime-time.

This is the second time that the two teams have met on a Thursday night.  The Bears won the first Thursday night meeting in 1991 at Lambeau Field, 10-0.

Running back Cedric Benson was taken by the Bears with the fourth overall pick in the 2005 draft and he spent his first three years in the NFL with Chicago.  Benson does not hold a grudge against the Bears…

Packers injury report: Out – LB Terrell Manning (concussion).  Doubtful – WR Greg Jennings (groin), RB James Starks (toe), CB Davon House (shoulder).  Questionable – DE C.J. Wilson (groin), LB Jamari Lattimore (ankle).

Bears injury report: Questionable – TE Kyle Adams (shoulder), CB Charles Tillman (shin).  Probable – LB Brian Urlacher (knee).
