Benson On I-R, Three Starters Miss Practice

The Green Bay Packers placed running back Cedric Benson on injured reserve Wednesday with the hope that he will return later this season.  The team is taking advantage of the NFL‘s new rule in 2012, where one player placed on injured reserve could come back to practice after six weeks and return to the lineup after eight weeks.  Benson, who has a Lisfranc injury to his left foot, would also have to be healthy to return.  Packers head coach Mike McCarthy is hopeful that will be the case…

Receiver Greg Jennings once again missed practice Wednesday.  Jennings has been bothered by a groin injury, which has already cost him two and a half games this season.  Jennings, who was sidelined against the Colts last Sunday, will be given time to heal…

Jermichael Finley is nursing a shoulder injury, which he suffered in the third quarter of Sunday’s loss at Indianapolis.  The Packers tightend said that everything seems fine with his shoulder, but he has to take a hit to be able to play against the Texans…

Nose tackle B.J. Raji did not participate in yesterday’s practice as he is slowed by an ankle injury, which he suffered in the first half against the Colts.  Raji said its always frustrating when injuries keep a player off the field…

Safety Sean Richardson (hamstring) also missed practice Wednesday while corner Davon House (shoulder) was a full participant.  The Packers will take on the Texans in Houston Sunday night.  Kickoff at Reliant Stadium is set for 7:20 PM.

Note:
Packers rookie linebacker Nick Perry was fined 15 thousand dollars by the NFL for his second quarter hit on Colts quarterback Andrew Luck.  The league determined that Perry led with the crown of his helmet.   Perry was asked if he learned anything…

According to reports, Perry plans on appealing the fine.
