The National Weather Service in Green Bay has issued a BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT, for the beaches of Door, Kewaunee, and Manitowoc counties, until 10pm Sunday.
Persistent South to Southwest winds will bring waves of 2 to 4 feet, locally as high as 5 ft, to the Lake Michigan shore of Northeast Wisconsin through this evening resulting in dangerous swimming conditions. The largest waves will be north of Algoma.
High wave action makes swimming difficult and can tire even a strong swimmer quickly as waves on the Great Lakes occur in rapid succession. High wave action also leads to strong currents.
