The Sturgeon Bay American Legion baseball team beat Wrightstown Monday night at Memorial Field, 9-4. The Bays snapped a scoreless tie with five runs in the second. Lucas Stephenson had a run-scoring single in that inning and Riley Schartner hit a grand slam. Sturgeon Bay would tack on one run in the third and then three more in the fourth. Stephenson was 2-for-2 and drove in two runs and David Van Dreese was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored.
Van Dreese picked up the win. He allowed four runs on four hits in six innings. Van Dreese struck out ten while walking three. Chase Mickey worked around two walks and an error in a scoreless seventh. Mickey struck out the side to finish the contest.
Sturgeon Bay is now 4-2 in the East Division of the Fox River Valley League and 7 and 4 overall. The Bays are back in action Tuesday night when they host Southwest in a non-league game. First pitch from Memorial Field is at 8 PM.
Northern Door is also in action Tuesday night. The Chiefs will play an East Division game at Denmark. First pitch is at 7:45 PM.
