Sturgeon Bay Survives Sevastopol

Sturgeon Bay won a hard fought Packerland Conference boys basketball game over Sevastopol, 49-43 on Friday night in Institute.  The Clippers (3-2) opened the game on an 11-0 run only to see the Pioneers gradually get back into the game by halftime and tie the game in the third quarter.  But jump shots by Nate Abrahamson and Matthew Van Bramer pushed the Sturgeon Bay lead back to 7 early in the 4th quarter.  Abrahamson finished with 14 points for Sturgeon Bay while the Pioneers (0-5) were led by Bryce Birmingham with 15 points and Cody Giesseman added 11 points.  The two teams combined for 46 fouls and 56 free throw attempts.
