Spetz Game Winner Leads Pointers To World Series

Riley Spetz drove in the only run of the game as UW-Stevens Point beat Case Western Reserve 1-0 in the Midwest Regional Championship game on Saturday at Whitewater.  Spetz, who has started every game for the Pointers, has a .333 average with 11 doubles, 4 home runs and 33 RBI’s and says he was happy to come up with the big hit…

Spetz, a sophmore infielder from Sevastopol, said the game winning hit was off of a pitcher he has faced in the past, including during his Northern Door Legion career….

Spetz also drove in what proved to be the winning run in a 7-6 extra inning win over Whitewater last Thursday.  The Pointers (39-9) will play Manchester (39-5-1) at 4:30 Friday at the NCAA Division 3 College World Series at Fox Cities Stadium in Grand Chute.
