Manitowoc Lutheran beat Gibraltar, 68-66, in a Girls WIAA Division 4 regional opener on Tuesday in Manitowoc. The Vikings had a 40-25 lead early in the third quarter only to see the Lancers go on a 20-2 run to take the lead late in the quarter. Down by six early in the fourth, Gibraltar went on a 13-4 run and lead 60-57 after a Lauren Kita three pointer. But a MacKayla Menges three pointer gave Lutheran (14-8) the lead for good and the Lancers made 4 of 6 free throws in the final minute. Gibraltar (15-7) was led by Makenna Ash with a career high 35 points while Kita added 17. Manitowoc Lutheran, led by Menges with 24 while Brooke Roberts and Lindsay Englebrecht scored 15 each, will play at top seeded Algoma on Friday (WDOR).
