DNR Helps Hunters Donate Venison

With the annual Wisconsin gun deer hunting season coming to an end, the Department of Natural Resources is continuing its autumn tradition of helping hunters donate venison to food pantries across the state. The Wildlife Damage Deer Donation program makes it easy to do so. According to DNR biologist Dan Hirchert, all you need to do to donate a deer is just check the DNR web site at http://dnr.wi.gov for a list of participating processors and call to let them know you’re bringing in a deer…

The DNR program has been running since 2000. Hirchert says last year’s 3000 donated deer was pretty much a 12-year low…

The 9 day gun/deer hunting system ends at sundown Sunday.
