47 State Qualifiers for Doorfins

The Door County YMCA Doorfins will compete at the Wisconsin State YMCA Championships this weekend at the Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center in Brown Deer.  The Doorfins have qualified a team record 47 individuals and 21 relay teams in a total of 151 events.  Competition began Friday evening and continues through Sunday. *Photo submitted by Jeff Norton

Spartans’ Zeitler All-Bay Conference

Luxemburg-Casco’s Jake Zeitler was named to the Bay Conference first team.  The junior guard averaged a team high 16.6 points, 5.7 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game and added 62 three pointers on the season.  Dave Vlotho (16.2 ppg) was named to the second team and Carson Falk (13.2 ppg) was Honorable Mention.  The Spartans finished in third place in the Bay Conference behind champion … Continue reading

Xcel Silver Takes First at State Gymnastics

The Door County Strivers sent 31 gymnasts to the 2015 YMCA State Gymnastics Meet this weekend at North Fond du Lac high school.  The Xcel Silver team won the State Championship and was led by All Around Champion Hannah Sternard (37.725) and 3rd place finisher Laci Lautenbach (37.325).  Individually, Sternard claimed the vault title and Lautenbach the beam championship. Red Raiders Control Wolves

Brillion Pulls Away From Wolves

Brillion beat Algoma, 57-38, in a WIAA boys Division 4 regional final at Brillion on Saturday Night.  The Lions (20-4) led 22-16 at the half and went on a 13-1 run to start the second half to pull away.  Eliot Prokash led the Wolves (19-5) with 10 points.  Tyler Lemke scored 17 and Jacob Mathiebe added 11 for Brillion.
