Sawyer Wins DCL Batting Title
Sister Bay’s Tom Sawyer won the Door County League batting title with .440 average. He totaled a league high 22 hits and scored a league best 20 runs. Cordier Back in Majors
After opting out of his contract with the San Francisco Giants, Erik Cordier signed a minor league contract with the Miami Marlins on August 5th and he was assigned to the New Orleans Zephyrs. Cordier Switches Teams
Erik Cordier is now pitching for the New Orleans Zephyrs, the Triple A affiliate of the Miami Marlins. Cordier had pitched in a total of 34 games for the San Jose Giants and Sacramento River Cats, two teams in the San Francisco organization, totaling 50 strikeouts and allowing only four earned runs. He has not allowed a run in three appearances for the Zephyrs.
Egg Harbor Forced to Forfeit
Door County League President Rick Gigot released a statement Thursday morning saying that Egg Harbor “intentionally violated the Bylaws of the league” by using an ineligible player in their game against Baileys Harbor on August 9th resulting in a forfeit. Sturgeon Bay Plans Youth Football Meeting
The 2015 Sturgeon Bay Clipper Youth Football season will kickoff with an informational meeting on Thursday, August 13th at 6:00 in the Middle School Commons. This will be an opportunity for parents to fill out all consent forms and receive football gear handout information. The program is also looking for volunteer assistant coaches.
